The Thingy Picture 29 Feb 04

With my woodblock prints I was trying to get a flat even colour and having some trouble with it when someone suggested that I should prime and sand the surface first. This small abstract was my experiment with that. It worked pretty well and I liked the way that even after sanding there was a faint ghost image of the brush strokes in the primer. Anyway I showed my first attempt to Linda.

This was my first attempt. I showed it to Linda. She said ' The black shape looks like a man's thingy'.

So I turned the picture around like this. 'Is that better?'. I said.

'No' she said. 'That's worse'.

The picture ended up like this.
